Stella is none other than the successor of Charon, the ferryman of the Underworld. A subject that is sometimes difficult to tackle, since each of us experiences it differently and the pain is unique to each.

Learn to say goodbyeĪs said before, the central theme of Spiritfarer is the process of mourning. Soundtrack otherwise soothing, as it is intended to be Spiritfarer, despite the subject it deals with. The musical atmosphere of the game also makes us travel on the Archipelago: we easily recognize traditional Japanese instruments such as the shamisen. The islands in the game thus have Japanese-sounding names (Iwashima Campaign, Hikarishima Lighthouse, Hoseki Quarry, Furogawa, to name but a few) islands on which you will find magnificent cherry blossoms, but also traditional Japanese houses… Some recipes concocted by Stella come from Japanese cuisine (tuna tataki or fried sausages on a stick). Most of the members of Thunder Lotus are completely japanophiles, and the game clearly draws its inspiration from the Japanese universe: from an artistic point of view, we find the melancholy poetry and visual beauty of the studios Ghibli, and it is said that the artistic director of Spiritfarer was influenced by the watercolorist Hiroshi Yoshida.

Improving your boat and offering each soul its own living space (management of resources that you need to bring together and transform).Your goal is to take care of the souls on your boat so that they feel happy enough to claim one last trip from you and “cross over to the other side”. In this management / sandbox game you play as Stella, a soul passer. Let’s remember that Spiritfarer is the third game from Thunder Lotus Games studio, and this “little” masterpiece tackles a sometimes difficult subject, namely the grieving process. This is the case of Spiritfarer which since its launch in August 2020 has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide (all platforms combined), has been nominated for the Game Awards, DICE Awards and BAFTA Game Awards, and won three awards at the Canadian Game Awards. The latter are also nominated for tons of prices and often win. If it is the unmissable rendezvous of most blockbusters, we also find plenty of indie games that are also worth it. Canceled last year due to sanitary conditions, it will indeed take place this year in a new format: it will be fully digital. June is approaching and with it the E3 we all look forward to.
